Photonic band structure of Sierpinski waveguide networks
The photonic band structure and transmission properties of Sierpinski fractal networks ~SNs! made of one-dimensional waveguides are studied with the generalized eigenfunction method. In the absence or presence of dissipation and in different exit situations, we have numerically calculated the transmission coefficient as a function of frequency in the range 0–500 MHz for the first four generatio...
متن کاملDual-Band Substrate Integrated Waveguide Resonator Based on Sierpinski Carpet
In this paper, a dual-band Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) resonator with Sierpinski fractal geometry is proposed. The space-filling property of the employed fractal shape allows to reduce the resonator size. The bandwidth, the minimum insertion loss, the maximum return loss and the stop band rejection are considered for evaluating the effect of the fractal geometry on the resonator charac...
متن کاملPhotonic band structure computations.
We introduce a novel algorithm for band structure computations based on multigrid methods. In addition, we demonstrate how the results of these band structure calculations may be used to compute group velocities and effective photon masses. The results are of direct relevance to studies of pulse propagation in such materials.
متن کاملAn Approximate Analytic Model for Evaluating the Photonic Band Structure of a 2-D Octagonal Photonic Quasicrystals
In this work, using perturbation technique we have developed an approximate analytic model for evaluating the band structure of a 2-D octagonal photonic quasicrystal (PQC). Although numerical techniques are being used for evaluating such band structures, developing a numerical model to the best of our knowledge this work is the first instance of reporting helps to understand the physical proper...
متن کاملPhotonic band-gap waveguide microcavities: Monorails and air bridges
Photonic band-gap monorail and air-bridge waveguide microcavities, operating at the wavelength regime of 1550 nm, are fabricated using GaAs-based compound semiconductors. The fabrication process involves gas-source molecular beam epitaxy, electron-beam lithography, reactive ion etching, and thermal wet oxidation of Al0.93Ga0.07As.The fabrication of the air-bridge microcavity, in particular, als...
